Questions
How do I crop a picture into a circle?
Choose Circle under Shape (or open Circle crop). The corners become see-through, so the picture is saved as a PNG; choose a colour instead if you need a JPG. You can add a border in any colour.
Can I add a border around the circle?
Yes. Turn on Border under Shape and pick its width and colour; it is drawn just inside the edge, so nothing of the picture is hidden behind it.
Why is my circle saved as a PNG?
A JPG has no see-through areas, so the corners around the circle would be white. A PNG keeps them see-through, which is what profile pictures and stickers need. Choose a colour under Outside the shape if you want a JPG.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Is anything of the cut-away part left in the file?
No. Hidden previews of the whole photo, old edit history and anything stored after the end of the picture are removed, and every file is checked before you get it. SVG is the one exception: it stays a drawing, so the parts outside the box are hidden, not removed. Save it as PNG to remove them.
Can I crop someone else's photo?
Only if you have the right to use it. Cutting a photographer's credit or watermark out of their picture can break copyright law in many countries.
