Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your images never reach our servers.
Which formats can I convert?
From JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF, HEIC/HEIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG, to JPG, PNG, WEBP or AVIF. Camera RAW and Photoshop files aren't supported; export them as JPG or PNG first.
Which format should I pick?
JPG opens everywhere and suits photos. PNG is lossless and keeps see-through areas, so it suits logos and screenshots. WEBP and AVIF make much smaller files for websites; AVIF is the smallest, but some older apps can't open it.
Will I lose quality?
At High you won't see a difference at normal size. PNG and WEBP Lossless keep every pixel. Converting can't add back detail a file has already lost.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG, WEBP and AVIF keep them. JPG can't be see-through, so those areas are filled with white, black or a colour you pick.
Can I turn an SVG into a big PNG?
Yes. SVGs are drawn sharp at any size: choose Size → Custom width (up to 16,384 px). Without a size, an SVG comes out at its own size, or 1,024 px wide. Fonts and pictures that the SVG loads from the internet aren't used, for your safety.
What about animated GIFs and WEBPs?
The first frame is converted. Making or converting animations needs a GIF tool.
What happens to the location and camera details?
By default we remove where the photo was taken and keep the date and camera. You can keep everything, or remove all, under Photo info. Photos are always turned the right way up, and colours stay the same (AVIF saves wide colours as standard colours).
Why does an image say "Already JPG"?
It was already in the format you chose, so we kept it as it is instead of saving it again and losing quality. Only the location is removed, if that's your setting. Choose a Size to make it smaller in pixels.
Can I convert iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes, they convert like any other image. For whole albums of iPhone photos, HEIC to JPG is made just for that (up to 500 at a time).
Are there limits?
Up to 100 images at a time and 100 MB per image. Images over 50 megapixels are reduced to 50. It's free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
