Questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Does cropping lower the quality?
JPGs are cut without saving them again, so the part you keep stays exactly as it was. To do that, the top-left corner moves in steps of 8 or 16 pixels, and the last strip at the right and bottom edges is saved once at the photo's own quality, so nothing hidden from the cut-away part stays in the file. Choose Exact edge if the corner must sit on an exact pixel. PNG, GIF and lossless WEBP keep every pixel; other crops are saved again at high quality.
Is anything of the cut-away part left in the file?
No. Hidden previews of the whole photo, old edit history and anything stored after the end of the picture are removed, and every file is checked before you get it. SVG is the one exception: it stays a drawing, so the parts outside the box are hidden, not removed. Save it as PNG to remove them.
Can I crop a GIF and keep it moving?
Yes. Every frame is cropped and keeps its own colours, timing and loop. Animated WEBP and PNG (APNG) files keep moving too. Straightening or a shape makes a GIF's colours again; a plain crop or a turn doesn't.
How do I crop a picture into a circle?
Choose Circle under Shape (or open Circle crop). The corners become see-through, so the picture is saved as a PNG; choose a colour instead if you need a JPG. You can add a border in any colour.
What sizes do Instagram, YouTube and other sites use?
Open Sizes for sites in the Crop tab: it sets the shape and the size in pixels for posts, stories, covers, banners and thumbnails. The sizes come from each site's own help pages and are checked every 6 months. Names belong to their owners; FizzyTools isn't connected to them.
Can I crop many images at once?
Yes, up to 100. With Same settings for all, every image gets the same ratio, size and shape, and each box starts in the middle of its picture; move any box in the strip of pictures, or use one box for all.
Can I crop to exact pixels?
Yes. Type the position and size of the box in pixels (X, Y, W, H), or choose Resize to for an exact output size such as 1080 × 1080.
Why does my picture look soft after resizing?
Resize to can make a picture bigger than the part you cut out. Bigger pictures get no new detail, so they can look soft. Keep size avoids that.
What happens to the location and camera details?
By default the location is removed and the date and camera are kept. You can keep everything or remove all under Save as. Photos are always turned the right way up.
Can I crop someone else's photo?
Only if you have the right to use it. Cutting a photographer's credit or watermark out of their picture can break copyright law in many countries.
Which browsers work?
Chrome and Edge 100 or newer, Firefox 115 or newer, and Safari 15.4 or newer (iPhone and iPad: iOS 15.4 or newer). On iOS 15, saving as WEBP or AVIF and some HEIC photos need a newer Safari; JPG, PNG and GIF crops work.
