Questions
How do I make a PDF 200 KB or smaller?
Add it and it's done: this page is set to 200 KB. We find the best quality that fits. Scanned forms usually fit easily.
What if it can't get that small?
We tell you how small it got. You can then turn the pages into images, which is much smaller but means the text can't be selected or searched afterwards.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your file never reaches our servers. That matters for IDs, statements and certificates.
How much smaller will it get?
PDFs with photos or scans usually get 70–95% smaller at Recommended. PDFs that are mostly text are often already small; we keep your original if we can't make it smaller.
Will it look worse?
At Recommended you won't see a difference at normal zoom. Text and drawings aren't touched at all; only photos and scans are re-saved. Use Compare to check any page.
Do text, links, bookmarks and forms still work?
Yes. They're kept exactly as they were. Only "Turn pages into images" changes text into pictures.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
Yes. Type its password; the compressed PDF stays locked with the same password. The password never leaves your device.
Can I make it black and white?
Yes, turn on Black and white. It's great for scans and makes them even smaller.
Why does it say "Already small"?
Its images are already well compressed (or it has none), so we kept your original instead of giving you a bigger file.
Are there limits?
Up to 20 PDFs at a time, 200 MB and 2,000 pages each. It's free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
