Questions

Is my PDF or password uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your file and password never reach our servers.

Do I need the password?

For PDFs that ask for a password when you open them, yes: you type it once, and the unlocked copy opens without it. PDFs that only block printing, copying or editing unlock without a password.

I forgot the password. Can you unlock it?

No. We don't guess or crack passwords, and with modern encryption that isn't possible anyway. Ask whoever sent you the PDF.

Can I unlock my bank statement or payslip?

Yes. These are usually locked with a password the bank or employer told you (often based on your name or date of birth). Type it once and save an unlocked copy.

Can I unlock many PDFs at once?

Yes, up to 20. If they share a password, type it once in "Try on all locked PDFs".

Is it legal?

Unlocking your own PDFs, or PDFs you're allowed to change, is fine. Don't remove protection from documents you don't have the right to change.

Does it change my PDF?

No. Everything stays as it was; only the lock and the restrictions are removed. Digitally signed PDFs will show their signature as changed.

Can I keep the password but remove print limits?

Unlock it here, then lock it again on Protect PDF with only the password to open.

Why does it say "certificate or DRM protection"?

Some PDFs are locked to a person's certificate or to a publisher's software instead of a password. Only that software can open them.

Are there limits?

Up to 20 PDFs at a time, 200 MB and 2,000 pages each. It's free, with no sign-up and no daily limit.
