Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. Your PDFs, your text, names and pictures are never uploaded.

How do I add page numbers to a PDF?

Add your PDF, pick a spot and a text, and press Add page numbers. The preview shows exactly what you get, then download the numbered PDF.

Can I skip the cover page or start at another number?

Yes. Under Pages choose "Skip first" for the cover (or contents), and set "Start at" for the first number.

Can I use i, ii, iii for the front pages and 1, 2, 3 after?

Yes. Choose "Number part of the PDF differently" to add sections, each with its own style and first number, or with no numbers at all.

How do I get "Page 1 of 10"?

Choose "Page 1 of 9": the total is the last number printed. Or write your own text with the page number, total pages, file name and date.

Can I number several PDFs in one go?

Yes, up to 20. Turn on "Count across PDFs" to keep counting from one file to the next, in the order you set.

Can I add a header or footer?

Yes. "Add text in another spot" puts a title, the file name, the date or "Confidential" in any corner or centre, next to the numbers.

Will anything else in my PDF change?

No. Text, links, bookmarks and forms stay as they were. The numbers are marked as page decoration, so screen readers don't read them in the middle of the text.

Can I use a password-protected PDF?

Yes. We'll ask for its password, which stays on your device. The PDF stays locked with the same password unless you turn that off under Saving.

Can I add page numbers on my phone?

Yes. Add the PDF, tap Add page numbers, then Save (on iPhone, "Save to Files"). Free, no sign-up, up to 2,000 pages and 200 MB per PDF.
