Questions

Does the webcam recorder work on phones?

Yes. Allow the camera, press Start recording, then save or share the video from your phone.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. It stays on your device, and FizzyTools never receives it.

Is there a time limit or a watermark?

No watermark, and no time limit. The free space on your device sets the limit: an hour at HD takes about 2.3 GB.

What if my browser crashes?

Your recording is saved as it runs. Open this page again and we'll offer it back, with at most the last second or two missing.

Can it record computer sound?

In Chrome and Edge, yes: turn on the sound switch when you choose what to share. Tab sound works on every computer, and whole-screen sound depends on your system. Firefox and Safari can't record computer sound, but your microphone works in all of them.

Do I need permission to record something?

Record only what you have the right to record. Recording someone else? Ask them first. The rules differ from place to place. This isn't legal advice.

Why is part of my recording black?

Some films and shows are protected by their owners, and your browser keeps them out of recordings. We can't change that and don't try to.

Which browser is best?

Chrome or Edge has the most options. Firefox records WebM instead of MP4.

Why doesn't my trim start exactly where I chose?

A clean cut starts on the next clean frame, so nothing before it stays in your file. In Chrome and Edge, Exact cut re-makes the video and starts where you chose.

Where does my recording go afterwards?

Recordings you've saved are removed from this browser on your next visit. Ones you haven't saved stay until you save or delete them. Browsers can clear stored data, so save important recordings soon.

Does it work in a private window?

Yes, for shorter recordings: a private window has less room, and a crash can't be recovered there.
