Questions
Can I white out with another colour?
Yes. White-out is white unless you pick another colour in its bar, to match a coloured page. Whatever the colour, what's under the box is removed from the file when you save.
Does white-out really remove the text?
Yes. What's under a White-out or Redact box is removed from the file, not just covered, and we check the saved PDF before you download it. Most online editors only draw a box over it.
Is anything left after redacting?
Text, the parts of images, comments, links and form fields under a box are removed. A drawing that crosses a box edge is covered, not cut. Bookmarks, attachments and the file name aren't searched, so check them yourself.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your PDF never reaches our servers, and neither does anything you type or add.
How do I edit text in a PDF?
Add the PDF; Edit text is already on. Click the text you want to change, type, then click outside it. Lines of a paragraph re-wrap inside its width. Tap Save PDF when you're done.
Will it keep the same font?
When the PDF's own font has every letter you type and its licence allows editing with it. Otherwise we use the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times or Courier) and mark that block "Similar font", so you always know.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
A scanned page is a picture of text, so its words can't be changed here. You can add text on top, white out parts of it, or get the words out with Image to text.
How do I redact a PDF?
Choose Redact and drag over what to hide, or tap a line. Search to redact marks every email, phone number, long number or word you choose in one step. "Remove document details" also clears the title and author saved inside the PDF.
Can I highlight and add comments?
Yes. Highlights, underlines, strikethroughs and notes are real PDF comments, so Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and Edge show them. Turn on "Make annotations part of the page" for readers that hide comments.
Can I edit a password-protected PDF?
Yes. We'll ask for its password, which stays on your device. The saved PDF keeps the same password unless you turn that off in More options.
Can I edit a signed PDF?
Yes. Your changes are saved after the signature, so it stays intact, and readers show them as made after signing. If the signer certified the PDF against changes, we tell you what's still allowed.
Can I edit a PDF on my phone?
Yes. Tap the text to change it, or use the tools at the bottom, then tap Save PDF and "Save to Files" (on Android, "Save or share"). Free, no sign-up, no watermark, up to 2,000 pages and 200 MB.
May I edit any document?
Edit only documents you own or have permission to change. Changing official documents to mislead is illegal.
